About Free Mail

Transparent, Ephemeral Email for Everyone

Built to provide developers, testers, and everyday internet users with a clean, privacy-focused disposable email utility without forced account creation or permanent storage.

Who Runs Free Mail

Free Mail (hosted at 30mail.in) is an independent web project founded and maintained by [MY REAL NAME].

As a software engineer and open-web advocate, I built Free Mail out of frustration with existing temporary email providers that were inundated with aggressive redirect ads, misleading trial-abuse claims, outdated user interfaces, and opaque data handling policies. Free Mail was created to do one job reliably, transparently, and securely: receive ephemeral verification emails and automatically discard them when they expire.

Why This Service Exists

In the modern web ecosystem, almost every service, forum, or digital download demands an email address before granting access. Over time, sharing your primary personal or work email address across hundreds of miscellaneous websites creates two major issues:

  • Uncontrolled Spam & Marketing Drips: One-off registrations frequently lead to endless promotional newsletters and aggressive re-engagement campaigns that clog your primary inbox.
  • Data Breach Exposure: When third-party websites suffer credential breaches, having your personal email address linked to obscure services exposes your identity to credential-stuffing attacks and phishing.
  • Development & QA Bottlenecks: Software engineers and QA testers repeatedly need fresh, disposable mailboxes to test sign-up flows, password resets, and automated notification pipelines without polluting production user databases.

Free Mail solves these problems by providing zero-friction, temporary inboxes with configurable lifespans (10, 30, or 60 minutes).

How Free Mail Works Technically

Free Mail is engineered with modern web standards and an ephemeral-first data lifecycle:

  1. Frontend Architecture: Built with Next.js (App Router) and TypeScript, compiled into lightweight, responsive static web pages that load instantly across mobile, tablet, and desktop browsers.
  2. Mail Transfer Agent (MTA): When an email is sent to your generated address, our mail server receives the SMTP payload, validates the domain routing, and parses message headers in volatile memory.
  3. Real-Time Delivery via WebSockets: Active inboxes connect via secure WebSocket channels. When an incoming email arrives, it is pushed instantly to your browser view, allowing OTPs and confirmation links to be inspected within seconds without manual page refreshes.
  4. Strict Time-To-Live (TTL) Hard Deletion: Inboxes exist in volatile cache for exactly 10, 30, or 60 minutes depending on your selected mode. Once the TTL counter reaches zero, all associated email contents and identifiers are permanently purged from memory. We maintain no persistent message mailboxes on disk.

Open Source & Community Driven

Transparency is central to our philosophy. The complete codebase for Free Mail is open source and available for review, contributions, and self-hosting on GitHub:
